Aluminum foil application knowledge for packaging bags: This article is all you need.
Aluminum foil is a packaging material that has not yet been replaced. It is non-toxic 、 thermal conductivity, light shielding, moisture barrier , aroma retention and other advantages, so its application is very wide. However, there are still many considerations for aluminum foil in practical applications. Therefore, Shunxingyuan Packaging, a professional manufacturer of flexible packaging has specially compiled this for everyone.
I. Wide Application Areas of Aluminum Foil

Aluminum foil is made from electrolytic aluminum with a purity of over 99.5%, processed by rolling. It has a shiny metallic luster, is non-toxic, odorless, tasteless, has excellent light-shielding properties, and a reflectivity of up to 95% . Stable at high and low temperatures, with temperatures 73~371 ℃ without expansion or deformation, good barrier properties, moisture-proof and air-impermeable, aroma retention, moisture resistance, and oxygen barrier. It is an excellent middle layer substrate film for high-end retort packaging.
Aluminum foil is often used in cosmetics high-end packaging and blister packaging, mildew-proof and moisture-proof packaging for clothing and apparel, moisture-proof and aroma-retaining paper for cigarettes, high-end packaging for chocolates, anti-leakage packaging for daily chemical products, sealing lid film for instant noodle bowls, sealing labels for beer and champagne, composite packaging for milk and dairy products, and fruit juices, etc.
II. Aluminum Foil Rarely Used Alone

Aluminum foil is widely used in flexible packaging, but because its own strength is very low and it is prone to breakage during initial folding, it is rarely used alone.
It is generally made into composite packaging materials with paper, cellophane, and polyethylene film. During compounding, different types of adhesives are used, such as adhesive lamination, dry lamination, extrusion lamination, and cast lamination, to compensate for its weaknesses such as being prone to breakage, lack of flexibility, and absence of hot adhesives. When compounding aluminum foil with other materials, the airtightness and moisture resistance of the other materials should be considered. Compounding aluminum foil with polyester film can greatly improve its folding resistance.
III. Thickness to Consider When Using Aluminum Foil in Composites

For aluminum foil used in composite materials, a thickness of 0.007~0.009mm is sufficient and relatively economical. Currently, thinner aluminum foil has five hundred to six hundred pinholes per square meter, and if its necessary strength is ignored, it can only provide moisture resistance. If its thickness is 20 μ m or more, it can achieve the requirement of being pinhole-free and having moisture resistance.
In practical use, besides packaging food and medicine, the choice of thickness should be based on different contents, and especially for products sold in the domestic market, the consumer's affordability should be considered.
