How to make your product shine? The key is to create eye-catching packaging. Whether you're a coffee roaster, cafe owner, or coffee bean trader, once your sales reach a certain volume, you'll want to move beyond generic packaging and opt for custom packaging that aligns with your brand. This is a crucial consideration.

I. Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)

Generally, the minimum order quantity is 30,000. This is calculated based on the length of a roll of printed film. The standard specifications for printed film on the market are typically 8000m/r—12000m/r. For a 1 pound bag of coffee, the quantity comes out to be around 30,000. The smaller the order quantity, the greater the loss rate, meaning the order quantity determines the unit price. Of course, you can also 10000 order a smaller quantity, after all, the sky's the limit for those with deep pockets.

II. Packaging Bag Type

1. Stand-up Pouch ( D oypack)

This type of bag is formed by combining the front, back, and bottom panels. It's three-dimensional, stand-up, and can be equipped with resealable zippers and one-way degassing valves. The wide opening makes it easy to fill with coffee beans, and it's relatively affordable.

2. Eight-side Seal Bag ( F lat bottom bag)

A popular bag type in recent years, it features a generous appearance, formed by the front, back, two sides, and a square bottom. Because the sides can be expanded, this bag type offers a large capacity in a small footprint, significantly improving transportation and storage efficiency. It can also be equipped with resealable zippers and one-way degassing valves. Due to its more complex manufacturing process, it's relatively more expensive. If your brand targets a higher market segment and packages premium beans, this is the ideal choice.

3. Gusset Bag ( G usset bag)

A very traditional packaging bag type, still used by many older European and American brands. Its advantage lies in its suitability for packaging large quantities of coffee beans; bags of 1kg or more generally use this type for its robustness and strength. When packed, the bottom can be folded to allow it to stand. It can also be equipped with a one-way degassing valve, and the price is relatively affordable compared to the eight-side seal bag.

III. Packaging Bag Size

We've encountered many clients without experience in custom packaging. When asked about their desired size, their response is often like this:

1. The bag's dimensions consist of bag width, bag height, and bottom width (bottom width = side width).

2. The type and roast level of the coffee beans affect the size. Dark roast beans are usually larger than light roast beans, so the required size will vary even for the same weight.

3. From a design perspective or personal preference, consider whether you prefer extra space at the top after filling the beans or a snug fit.

IV. After determining the bag type and size, there are 4 other important aspects to consider:

One-way degassing valve: Shunxingyuan currently offers two types of valves: one with a filter and one without. The former is more expensive; customers can choose according to their needs.

Easy-tear notch: Single-side or double-side.

Zipper: Standard resealable zipper and single-side easy-tear zipper. For small-mouthed eight-side seal bags, standard resealable zippers are inconvenient but cheaper; single-side easy-tear zippers are similar to standard zippers in terms of ease of use but are more expensive.

Material and thickness: The packaging material is determined by the specific product. Coffee beans are sensitive to oxygen, moisture, ultraviolet light, and carbon dioxide after roasting. Therefore, the packaging bag must have a high-performance barrier layer, usually requiring a 3-layer or more composite structure, consisting of a surface film + pure aluminum foil / aluminum-coated film + base film.
