1, Introduction to Washed Aluminum Bags

Washed aluminum bags are also known as partially hollowed aluminized bags. They are composite packaging bags made by laminating plastic film with partially hollowed aluminized film (or called partial aluminum layer de-aluminization) to create local transparency. Washing aluminum refers to removing or washing off the partial aluminized layer on the film. The aluminized film washing process, also called de-aluminization process, and sometimes referred to as partial hollowing de-aluminization process, has various names, but essentially it means the same thing: washing off the partial aluminized layer of the film to form exquisite, anti-counterfeit packaging bags.

2, Characteristics of Washed Aluminum Bag Process

1. Traditional Alkaline Washing Aluminum Method

The traditional alkaline washing aluminum method is a process that uses semi-automatic equipment and an alkaline liquid to de-aluminize and clean the aluminized layer. The main component of the alkaline liquid is sodium hydroxide solution, commonly known as caustic soda water, which reacts chemically with the aluminized layer and, through a washing tank device, washes off the aluminized layer of the corresponding aluminized film.

Traditional aluminum washing methods make it easy to remove the aluminum film, but hydrogen gas is released during operation, so it must be done in a ventilated area and kept away from flames, posing some danger. Furthermore, with this traditional partial aluminizing process, after printing and aluminizing, a protective agent is usually applied to the areas where the aluminized layer needs to be retained, and then washed with alkaline water. Because the protective agent cannot be overprinted, the yield rate is not high. At the same time, alkaline water can corrode the edges of the aluminum layer, making it difficult to fully retain fine lines or tiny text.

2. Post-Printing Aluminizing Method

This method involves aluminizing a pre-printed PET color-printed film at the desired pattern areas, and then laminating this PET color-printed aluminized film with another film using hot-melt adhesive to form a composite layer for color-printed aluminized packaging bags. Compared to traditional aluminum washing processes, it has the following advantages:

Simple processing technology, simplified aluminum washing process, saving two layers of film, reducing production and product costs.

Using hot-melt adhesive cold-rolling composite processing technology, the color-printed film aluminized packaging bags are strong and durable, and will not crack.

3. Clear Water Aluminum Washing Method

This process can wash away the aluminized layer in transparent areas, enhancing the stability of aluminum washing and preventing pollution. The aluminum washing device includes at least one water tank, a cleaning roller set within the water tank, and guide rollers set above the water tank, forming an aluminum washing line. During cleaning, the packaging film continuously moves in the water tank, and the aluminized layer at the hydrophilic ink areas is washed away by the action of clear water and the cleaning roller in the tank. This cleaning method overcomes the disadvantages of existing alkaline aluminum washing devices, such as chemical reaction instability, long processing time, high energy consumption, and environmental pollution. By using clear water in the tank for cleaning, excellent aluminum washing results can still be achieved, with uniform and stable product quality, and complete and clear graphics; it enables large-volume mechanized production, making it highly suitable for the production of washed aluminum bags.

4. Coating Peel-off De-aluminization Method

This is a manufacturing method for colored vacuum aluminized paper packaging material with high surface finish and strong resistance to organic solvents. The specific procedure involves coating a polyester film with an easy-peel coating, vacuum aluminizing it, then laminating a paper layer, and subsequently peeling off the polyester film. Finally, a pigment-containing coating is applied to the easy-peel layer to obtain the product. The easy-peel coating consists of nitrocellulose and acrylic resin. This method improves the easy-peel coating, enhancing its resistance to organic solvents, allowing for large-area coloring on its surface. Because the surface is covered by a relatively rough easy-peel layer, it can display a mirror effect, and the aluminized paper can be printed again, with color difference controllable during the coloring process.
