Spanish plastic tax exemption - EN15343 recycled packaging

To be exempt from the plastic tax, you need to provide a recyclable certificate with EN15343 certification and proof that the recycled packaging was produced under the supervision of the EN15343 certificate.
According to the Spanish government's Ordinance No. HFP/1314/2022 and Ordinance No. 7/2022, starting January 1, 2023, Spain will begin levying a plastic tax on disposable, non-reusable plastic packaging based on the principles of a circular economy, with mandatory enforcement starting January 1, 2024.
The tax scope includes:
1. Used to produce semi-finished products for non-reusable plastic packaging;
2. Used to seal, trade, or display non-reusable plastic products;
3. Non-reusable plastic containers.
Examples of products within the tax scope include, but are not limited to: plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic boxes, plastic packaging films, plastic packaging straps, plastic cups, plastic tableware, plastic straws, etc.
Tax Tax rate ：
The tax rate for non-renewable plastic packaging per kilogram is 0.45 euros /kg 。
Zero plastic tax:
If a plastic tax exemption is required, a recycling certificate must be provided EN15343 certification, and proof of recycled packaging produced under EN15343 certificate supervision.
